It’s the start of the new year and like me you’ve probably seen plenty of emails, social posts and news articles all about setting new year’s goals… and while I think you can set goals at any time, the start of a new year is as good a time as any!
A beautiful tool that can help in the achievement of your goals is a vision board. A vision board is a visual representation of your goals. It can be images, quotes, words and even objects (I have a USA $1 pinned to mine – representing another visit to the states).
Define Your Goals: Before you start, think about your short-term & long-term goals. What do you want to achieve in different aspects of your life, such as career, relationships, health, & personal development?
Gather Supplies: Collect materials such as a poster or white board, magazines, scissors, glue, markers, stickers, & any mementos or other decorative items you'd like to include.
Collect Images and Words: Flip through magazines, books, or print out images, words or quotes that resonate with your goals, aspirations & vision for the future.
Arrange Your Materials: Organise your materials in a way that's visually appealing. You can choose to have a central focus or create sections for the different areas of your life.
Add Personal Touches: Use pens, stickers, & other decorative elements to personalise your vision board further. You might want to add quotes, affirmations, handwritten notes or other items that are special to you.
Reflect and Visualize: Take a moment to reflect on your vision board. Visualise yourself achieving the goals & living the life depicted on the board. This step helps connect your energy to your goals.
Display Your Vision Board: Place your vision board where you'll see it often, such as your bedroom, desk or on the fridge. The visual reminder can inspire & motivate you to take steps towards achieving your goals.
Have fun with creating your vision board. I find the act of creating my board fun, an act of self-care and mindfulness. It reminds me of doing school projects on a big piece of cardboard, spread out on the loungeroom floor with a ruler, pencils, glitter and cut up images of what even topic I was learning.
Such a great way to spend an afternoon.
